The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) announced on the 20th that it will dispatch an economic delegation to Indonesia on the 28th and 29th of this month. Shin Dong-bin, Chairman of Lotte Group, will serve as the Director General, with senior economic executives from major corporations including Samsung Electronics, SK, Hyundai Motor, LG, POSCO, Hanwha, HD Hyundai, and KB Financial Group attending.
This is the first time a private delegation has been formed since the inauguration of the new government led by Prabowo in Indonesia last October. Through this dispatch, the goal is to establish a network with the new government and discuss expanding economic cooperation and mutual investment between the two countries. In particular, the aim is to discover practical cooperation opportunities in the energy, infrastructure, and digital industries, which are gaining attention as next-generation growth engines.
The delegation plans to hold a "Korea-Indonesia Business Round Table" on the 28th in collaboration with the Indonesian business organization "Indonesian Employers Association" (APINDO), focusing on discussions about cooperation in key industrial sectors and policy support measures. They also plan to conduct meetings with the Minister of the Indonesian Ministry of Economic Affairs, the investment department, and the ministry of industry.
Indonesia, the fourth most populous country in the world and endowed with the largest nickel reserves globally, is regarded as a key partner country for domestic corporations in the ASEAN region. Last year, the trade volume between South Korea and Indonesia reached $20.5 billion (approximately 29 trillion won), making Indonesia South Korea's 13th largest trading partner.
