The Gangwon Economic Promotion Agency announced on the 14th that it has reviewed and decided on the final candidate for the director position from two recommended individuals, choosing former Samsung Vice President Seo Dong-myeon. The candidate, Seo, is from Wonju, Gangwon Province, and graduated from Hanyang University with a degree in chemistry. He has served as a managing director at Samsung Future Strategy Office, and held various positions including executive director at Samsung C&T and vice president at Samsung Electronics.
Seo must pass a personnel hearing in May to take office as director under the local government ordinance revised last March by the Gangwon Provincial Council. If he passes the hearing, the scheduled date for taking office is June 1, and the term is two years.
