The Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Association announced on the 14th that Lee Sang-kyun, CEO of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, has been appointed as the 21st president of the association.

The appointment of the CEO as president of the association was decided at an extraordinary general meeting on March 31st. The term will be from the 15th to April 14, 2027.

The president joined HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in 1983 and has served as senior managing director in charge of the shipbuilding business division, as well as production head at HD Hyundai Samho, before being appointed CEO of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in 2021.

The president said, “I will proactively respond to global environmental and safety regulations to ensure sustainable growth and future competitiveness of the shipbuilding industry,” and added, “I will focus on supporting the development of eco-friendly and smart ship technologies and nurturing future talent to do my utmost to create a shipbuilding industry ecosystem based on collaboration and coexistence.”
