The innovative off-roader INEOS Grenadier unveiled two prototypes at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show, the first in Asia.
The 'Grenadier Portal Axle Prototype,' which boasts outstanding driving performance even in extreme off-road conditions, and the 'Grenadier by Chelsea Truck Company,' which adds restrained urban sophistication to its classic design, are among them. The two vehicles are prime examples that present diverse and infinite possibilities based on the brand philosophy of 'Built for More.'
At the press day of the Seoul Mobility Show held on the 3rd, Justin Hocevar, president of INEOS Automotive for the Asia-Pacific region, noted, "The story of INEOS Automotive began in 2017 at the 'Grenadier' pub in London. Founder Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his colleagues shared a bold idea there: to create 'the most rugged and uncompromising 4X4 in the world.' This conversation soon led to a serious engineering project, resulting in the birth of the INEOS Grenadier in collaboration with world-class partners." He added, "In 2021, we reached a crucial turning point by acquiring the Hambach plant in eastern France. We transformed this facility into a state-of-the-art production site with an investment of more than 540 million euros (about 840 billion won), and the Grenadier produced here is currently exported to over 50 countries worldwide."
Additionally, Hocevar mentioned, "When we held the first Grenadier unveiling event in Asia in Seoul in 2023, I could directly feel the intense interest and passion of Korean customers. This became an important opportunity for us to focus more on the Korean market. Currently, the delivery of Grenadier vehicles in Korea is proceeding smoothly, supported by six service centers nationwide. Especially to meet the demand of customers in the southern regions, we are preparing to open a new showroom in Busan. The two vehicles showcased here today fully embody INEOS's core philosophy of 'Built for More.'"
Chabot Motors, the official importer of INEOS Automotive in Korea, represented by Jeong Jin-gu and Kang Seong-geun, participated in the Seoul Mobility Show for the second time, following the 2023 show.
The 2025 exhibition featured the Grenadier Portal Axle Prototype equipped with a portal axle, the Grenadier by Chelsea Truck Company with a dedicated tuning kit from Chelsea Truck Company, and the Belstaff Edition featuring the Fieldmaster and Trialmaster all in one place.
The Grenadier Portal Axle Prototype, which inherits the 'Built for More' DNA of the INEOS Grenadier, maximizes the use of a ladder frame chassis and body on frame structure optimized for various applications, enhancing the off-road driving capabilities and extreme durability provided by the portal axle. The Grenadier Portal Axle Prototype has received great attention since its unveiling at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK, and this exhibition marks its debut in Korea, which is particularly noteworthy.
Additionally, the portal axle significantly improved the fording depth from 800 mm to 1,050 mm and the ground clearance from 264 mm to 514 mm, achieving a unique style and excellent driving performance with offset wheel hubs and large off-road tires. The TÜV-certified suspension springs and front and rear shock absorption systems provide a stable driving experience, maintaining optimal traction even while driving through the tire pressure control system. This innovative design has already demonstrated its performance in various industrial and construction sites across Germany.
The Grenadier by Chelsea Truck Company, outfitted with a dedicated tuning kit from Chelsea Truck Company, showcases a transformation that harmonizes urban sophistication with robust off-road performance.
The 3-Piece Front Hammer Grille Cowl boldly reinterprets the identity of the Grenadier, imparting a modern and aggressive image, while the wheel arches with a width of 40 mm and the fenders express both elegance and ruggedness.
The Alpine Window Covers and the large upper roof wing emblazoned with the KAHN® badge add a sleek sports touch, while the application of 9×20-inch Mondial Retro Wheels and 35-inch tires ensures outstanding driving performance even on rough off-road terrain. Notably, the design by Chelsea Truck Company emphasizes an urban sensibility, expecting a strong response from Korean customers, and the intricate details, including dedicated hard spare wheel covers, satisfy both practicality and luxury.
