BYD Korea announced on the 3rd that it will unveil its second electric vehicle model, the ‘SEAL,’ and begin pre-registration. With the electric vehicle subsidies confirmed for the first model, the Atto 3, which was unveiled earlier this year, customer deliveries will begin.
The SEAL is a mid-sized electric sedan. Its low body and streamlined design give it a coupe feel. According to the company, it is the first BYD electric vehicle to apply cell-to-body technology, which integrates the body and battery, enhancing safety and performance.
The vehicle uses a BYD lithium iron phosphate (LFP) blade battery with a capacity of 82.56 kilowatt-hours (kWh), allowing it to travel up to 520 kilometers (European standard) on a single charge.
The powertrain features two motors, one with 160 kW at the front and another with 230 kW at the rear. With a maximum output of 390 kW (530 horsepower), the all-wheel drive (AWD) model can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.8 seconds.
Join-cheol, the representative of the passenger vehicle institutional sector at BYD Korea, said, “Excluding the electric vehicle subsidies, the sales price will be set between 47.5 million and 52.5 million won,” and noted, “The exact delivery time and price of the vehicle will be finalized after certification.”
The representative said, “The SEAL will further strengthen BYD's brand position in the country,” and noted, “We plan to launch the all-wheel drive (AWD) model first, followed by the rear-wheel drive (RWD) model.”
BYD Korea also announced that the Atto 3, which was launched in January this year, will begin customer deliveries after receiving confirmation of government subsidies from the Ministry of Environment the previous day. The government subsidy is 1.45 million won, and with local government subsidies added, it is expected to be purchasable in the late 20 million won range.
Having participated in the domestic mobility show for the first time, BYD Korea will showcase the SEAL, Atto 3, and the upcoming Shireon at the event, along with five additional models from its sub-brands.
In addition to the premium brand Yangwang's supercar ‘U9,' it unveiled for the first time in the country the large sports utility vehicle (SUV) ‘U8,’ the multipurpose vehicle (MPV) ‘D9’ from Denge, the sports sedan ‘Z9GT,’ and the SUV ‘BAO 5’ from Formula Bao.
