Autonomous A2Z, a developer of autonomous driving platforms, announced on the 28th that it has successfully implemented a demonstration of autonomous driving vehicles equipped with sensor cleaning technology. Autonomous A2Z is a startup founded by autonomous driving engineers from Hyundai Motor.

Sensor cleaning is a technology that removes contaminants such as dust, insects, rain, and snow that accumulate on various sensors attached to the vehicle, including LiDAR, cameras, and radars, to maintain detection performance. In autonomous vehicles, sensors correspond to the human eye, and this technology is considered essential, particularly for the commercialization of level 4 and above advanced autonomous driving.

The Kia EV9-based autonomous vehicle with sensor cleaning technology was first unveiled on the 26th at the '2025 Korea High-Functional Materials Week' held at Songdo Convensia in Incheon.

This vehicle was developed through the 'V2E cognitive judgment safety and accident response evaluation technology development' project led by the Korea Transportation Safety Authority (TS) automotive safety research institute. Autonomous A2Z, technology developer SL Corporation, and sensor manufacturers AutoL and SOSLAB participated.

Autonomous A2Z took charge of the demonstration driving and system integration of the vehicle equipped with sensor cleaning. It optimized the platform to ensure the stable operation of the sensor cleaning technology under various environmental conditions by utilizing autonomous driving operating software, precision-based driving technology, and a real-time integrated control system.

Yoo Min-sang, Chief Strategy Officer of Autonomous A2Z, said, "Emerging industries like autonomous driving can only be realized when regulations and technology develop together," adding, "We will play a pivotal role in enhancing the technology of the domestic autonomous driving industry and securing global competitiveness in collaboration with the government in the future."
