Honda's iconic model 'ST125(Dax)' has been released in the domestic market. It is a bike that closely resembles the beloved 'Dachshund' of dog lovers.
The models that Honda calls 'iconic' are distinguished first by their unique design. These products have been reborn with a modern sensibility, selecting only the most symbolic models from Honda's 77 years of motorcycle history. Among them, models like Monkey125, CT125, and C125 are sold in the domestic market. It is a small fun leisure bike that embodies Honda's modern and retro style with ease of handling.
Honda Korea has added one more new model to this line-up. On the 26th, at the Honda Mobility Cafe 'The Go' in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, the launch event was held for the 'ST125(Dax)' introduced to the Korean market.
The nickname of this model is 'Dax.' It has refined the characteristics of the Dachshund into an iconic design. Honda has created a practical product with a design that makes you want to embrace it in your arms and maximized the ease of handling with an automatic centrifugal clutch. It provides a wide range of options for beginners as well as those looking for a unique everyday commuter. Domestic sales will begin in early April.
The ST125(Dax), making its domestic debut, is a leisure bike that anyone can easily enjoy under the concept of "We like Dax & Relax." It captures attention with its minimal and unique styling and features an automatic centrifugal four-speed return clutch, allowing anyone to ride comfortably without any burden. Additionally, a double seat is included as standard, enabling comfortable tandem riding. The automatic centrifugal four-speed return clutch is a device that connects and disconnects power using the up/down motion of the left foot's tip and heel, without the need for clutch lever operation in manual motorcycles. Beginners can easily and conveniently shift gears.
The nickname Dax for the ST125 comes from its resemblance to the Dachshund breed, which has short legs and a long body. It features a T-shaped press frame reminiscent of a Dachshund, and the side panels are adorned with a Dachshund-shaped logo and the Dax nickname logo, solidifying its identity. When the engine starts, the TFT meter displays a wink motion inspired by pets, allowing the ST125(Dax) to feel like a companion beyond just a means of transportation for the rider.
Furthermore, the round headlight and round LCD meter, along with the straight up exhaust and chrome details, enhance the retro sensibility. A tank-less design that integrates the tank into the frame and position lamps arranged around the up/down lighting add modernity. Notably, all lighting features employ LED lights to increase visibility.
The power unit is equipped with a 124cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine designed to meet the enhanced environmental regulation Euro 5+, achieving a performance of 9.4/7,000 (ps/rpm) and maximum torque of 1.1/5,000 (kgm/rpm). With an automatic centrifugal clutch and four-speed transmission identical to that of the Super Cub, it allows for easy shifting without clutch lever operation, enabling anyone to enjoy riding without burden. Additionally, it offers a refreshing driving experience with a bouncy feel and intuitive throttle response in the low-speed range.
The ST125(Dax) is designed with the goal of providing riders with stable and comfortable riding. With a low seat height of 778mm, it enhances foot placement for a comfortable riding position and comes standard with a double seat for tandem riding. It features spoke wheels with disc brakes and a one-channel ABS linked to a three-axis IMU, along with wide tires to improve riding safety in various environments.
When purchasing the ST125(Dax), customers can also buy four practical accessories including grip heaters, USB chargers, saddlebags, and rear carriers.
Lee Ji-hong, CEO of Honda Korea, noted, "The ST125(Dax), making its domestic debut, is a new model in Honda's iconic series that embodies unique design and Honda's identity. I expect it to be an attractive option that not only serves as a mode of transportation but also as a fashion item that expresses the rider's personality and a companion for everyday life, allowing anyone to enjoy it without burden."
The price of the ST125(Dax) is 4.78 million won (including VAT), and it is available in three colors: pearl black, pearl gray, and blue.
Honda Korea will hold a commemorative customer giveaway event coinciding with the official sales launch of the ST125(Dax) in early April. The first 1,000 customers who visit a nearby Honda motorcycle official dealer or store for purchase consultations and complete a QR survey will receive a keyring for the ST125(Dax), and the first 1,000 customers who complete a test ride will receive a 10,000 won Starbucks coupon.
