Jeep will launch the refreshed new Gladiator next month. Jeep regards the new pickup truck, the New Gladiator, as catering to those who enjoy leisure activities, significantly enhancing its safety features.

According to Stellantis on the 26th, Jeep's only convertible (a vehicle with a retractable roof) pickup truck, the New Gladiator, has a high-strength steel chassis. This is designed to effectively disperse impact during collisions. It also features side curtain airbags to protect passengers. The vehicle's glass is made from high-strength materials, providing strong durability to protect the driver from external impacts.

The New Gladiator is particularly characterized by its strong towing capability. The 6-cylinder 3.6L engine delivers a maximum output of 284 horsepower and maximum torque of 36 kg·m. Its long wheelbase provides high stability during towing. Stellantis explained that it is designed to prevent trailer sway, making it sufficient for carrying leisure goods such as yachts, trailers, or caravans.

Jeep designed the Gladiator this way because the number of people enjoying leisure activities has increased. Especially, more people are using expensive products such as caravans or yachts with their own vehicles. According to the Korea Coast Guard, the cumulative registration of leisure boats like yachts has surpassed 38,000 as of the end of 2023. It has been increasing by about 2,000 each year since 2018.

A Jeep official noted, "Unlike sports utility vehicles (SUVs), the New Gladiator features a separate loading space, allowing for the transport of large equipment such as surfboards or kayaks, and it can tow boats or yachts. It will be the optimal choice for leisure enthusiasts."
