There has been a claim that a specialized data home shopping (T commerce) channel is necessary to support the distribution channels of small and medium-sized enterprises.

T commerce is a term that combines TV and commerce, referring to data-driven e-commerce through television. Unlike live TV home shopping, T commerce only allows recorded broadcasts. Additionally, more than half of the screen must consist of data related to products and transactions.

T commerce is regarded as one of the key tasks of the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises.

Professor Lee Ho-taek of Keimyung University noted on the 25th during a policy forum titled “Measures to Strengthen Support for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises’ Distribution Channels,” hosted by the Korea Distribution Association at the KBIZ Coexistence Room in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, that “the most fundamental cause of the management difficulties faced by small and medium-sized enterprises is the sluggish sales due to the economic downturn, so it is essential to secure self-sufficiency through strengthened distribution support.”

Professor Lee emphasized that “in the current unstable distribution environment, marked by recent events such as those involving Tmon, Wemep, and Homeplus, T commerce can play a role as a reliable digital distribution channel for small and medium-sized enterprises.”

This forum was organized to explore ways to strengthen support for small and medium-sized enterprises and small businesses, which are experiencing unprecedented crises due to increasing corporate instability in the global market and the prolonged contraction of consumer sentiment in the domestic market.

More than 100 attendees were present, including Rep. Kang Seung-kyu (People Power Party), Park Kyung-do, president of the Korea Distribution Association, Han Sang-rin, professor at Hanyang University who served as the moderator, and discussants including Jeong Hwan of Konkuk University, Jeong Yeon-seung of Dankook University, Noh Chang-hee, director of the Digital Industry Policy Research Institute, Ryu Pil-sun, an expert at the Small Business Association, and Son Sung-won, head of the Small Business Policy Division at KBIZ.

President Park Kyung-do stated, "To realize the activation of the civilian economy based on the sustainable growth of small and medium-sized enterprises, it is necessary to establish reliable specialized distribution channels suitable for small and medium-sized enterprise products," and emphasized that "the government's long-term policy support is essential for small and medium-sized enterprises facing distribution difficulties."
