Hyosung Group's holding company, Hyosung Corporation, has appointed Hwang Yoon-eon as the new CEO.
Hyosung noted on the 24th that it appointed Deputy Minister Hwang as CEO after holding a board meeting on the 22nd.
CEO Hwang graduated from Masan High School in Gyeongsangnam-do and the Department of Industrial Chemistry at Seoul National University. He joined the Eastern Nylon Central Research Institute, the predecessor of Hyosung, in 1983 and has contributed to strengthening the company's competitiveness in the textile business and institutional sector over the past 40 years. He played a key role in making Hyosung the world's number one spandex company by participating in the development of spandex fiber in the early 1990s, the first domestically. In 1998, he received the Hyosung Person of the Year Award and a commendation.
CEO Hwang led overseas market development, serving as the team leader for spandex production in 1999, the manager of the Gumi plant in 2000, the general manager of the Jiangsu corporation in China in 2001, and the overall supervisor of spandex in China as well as the general manager of the Guangdong corporation in 2005. After serving as the spandex PU director in 2010, he has been overseeing long-term strategic planning and technology management as the Deputy Minister since 2021.
