HANMI Semiconductor's affiliate, Gwaksin Holdings, will build an office building on Dosan-daero in Gangnam, Seoul.
Established in July 2023 through the merger of HANMI Company and HANMI Networks, Gwaksin Holdings has 40% equity held by HANMI Semiconductor and 60% by Chairman Gwak Dong-shin.
Chairman Gwak has personally invested in HPSP, realizing more than 300 billion won in revenue, which is interpreted as the basis for planning a full-scale investment business.
In May 2024, Chairman Gwak also invested 31 billion won in Line Next, acquiring 8.5% equity. Line Next is a corporation invested in by SoftBank through Line Yahoo, focusing on the development of a non-fungible token platform and global Web3 business. It plans to go public in the future.
Speculation that Chairman Gwak, known as an 'automobile enthusiast' who previously operated a luxury import car dealership, would venture into related businesses again through Gwaksin Holdings, was denied.
A Gwaksin Holdings official noted, 'We plan to proceed with the demolition of the existing building on the Dosan-daero site and construct a three-level underground and ten-story above-ground building to commence our investment business.'
