On the 24th anniversary memorial service for the late Chung Ju-yung, honorary chairman of Hyundai Group, family members of the broader Hyundai family gathered on the 20th at the former residence of Chairman Chung in Cheongun-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. This is the first time that members of the broader Hyundai family have come together since the 17th anniversary memorial service for the late Mrs. Byun Jung-seok, the wife of the honorary chairman, last August.
Chung Eui-sun, chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, arrived around 6:25 p.m. He stepped out of a black Carnival and entered the residence. Following him, Chung Ji-sun, chairman of Hyundai Department Store Group, arrived.
Subsequently, Chung Ki-sun, vice chairman of HD Hyundai, Hyun Jeong-eun, chairman of Hyundai Group, Chung Kyo-sun, vice chairman of Hyundai Department Store Group, Chung Dae-sun, president of HN Inc., Chung Mong-ik, chairman of KCC Glass, Chung Mong-won, chairman of HL Group, Chung Mong-hyuk, chairman of Hyundai Corporation, Chung Il-sun, president of HYUNDAI BNG STEEL, Chung Mong-yun, chairman of Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance Group, and Chung Mong-joon, chairman of the Asan Foundation, entered the residence in Cheongun-dong.
Chairman Chung Mong-joon got out of the car and, entering the residence, greeted the reporters by saying, 'Thank you.'
Chung Sung-ki, advisor of INNOCEAN, and Chung Mong-hoon, chairman of Sungwoo Electronics, Chung Mong-yong, chairman of Hyundai Sungwoo Holdings, Chung Mong-seok, chairman of Hyundai Comprehensive Metal, and Chung Mong-il, chairman of Hyundai Future Log Group, also attended.
The Cheongun-dong residence is where the late honorary chairman lived during his lifetime. His eldest grandson, Chung Eui-sun, inherited ownership in March 2019 and has been holding memorial services since 2020.
Members of the broader Hyundai family are reportedly visiting the ancestral tomb in Changwoo-dong, Hanam, Gyeonggi Province, around the memorial date.
