According to the 2024 business reports of SK Corporation and SK Innovation released on the 20th, both companies acquired 700,000 shares (24.9%) of SK Telecom's Japanese subsidiary at the end of last year. This is due to the purchase of equity held by SK Square and new investments, with an investment amount of 3.3 billion won for each. It is interpreted that the group holding company SK Corporation and SK Innovation have effectively begun restructuring the subsidiary by investing in the equity of SK Telecom's Japanese subsidiary.

The Japanese subsidiary is expected to support local operations in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) and energy solutions that SK Group is promoting and, when necessary, take on business development tasks.
