Taihan Cable & Solution revealed on the 20th that South African Ambassador to Korea, Sindi Ndis and Ambassador Notomboli Mkukku visited the Dangjin cable plant on the 19th to discuss ways to expand business in South Africa.

The meeting was held at the plant to enhance understanding of the cable production process and provide experience regarding large-scale production facilities. This visit marks the first time Ambassador Mkukku has visited an individual Korean corporation since taking office in October of last year.

Ambassador Mkukku, who toured the Dangjin cable plant, discussed South Africa's power generation direction with Vice Chairman Song Jong-min and negotiated on the business status and support measures of M-TEC, Taihan Cable & Solution's production subsidiary in South Africa. They also shared the ongoing equipment expansion plans. M-TEC plans to introduce additional medium-low voltage (MV/LV) cable production facilities in the first half of the year to expand production capacity and complete the equipment expansion for quality enhancement. M-TEC is a joint venture established with an investment from Taihan Cable & Solution in 2000, employing approximately 350 local staff.

Additionally, discussions were held regarding projects carried out by Eskom, South Africa's state-owned power utility, along with the current business status under discussion. They also talked about educational training programs and professional personnel exchanges aimed at improving the technical skills of local employees.

Ambassador Mkukku noted, "I appreciate Taihan Cable & Solution’s contributions to stabilizing local power supply and creating jobs, among other areas," and added, "As investments in renewable energy related to solar power and offshore wind are actively underway in South Africa, we expect Taihan Cable & Solution to play a vital role."

Vice Chairman Song said, "Africa is a market rich in both material and human resources, providing opportunities for business expansion, particularly in South Africa, which boasts a high level of economic and educational infrastructure, always drawing attention. We will continuously strengthen M-TEC's competitiveness to increase sales in South Africa and expand exports to neighboring African countries."
