On the 19th, the electric vehicle rapid charging network Water announced that it has opened the largest outdoor electric vehicle rapid charging station in Korea by installing eight 200-kilowatt (kW) rapid chargers and 38 100 kW rapid chargers at KINTEX Exhibition Center 2 in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.
The newly opened charging station is located near Gate 4 behind Halls 6 to 8 of KINTEX Exhibition Center 2. A total of 46 electric vehicle rapid chargers are placed in two areas on the ground parking lot.
It is easily accessible from the entrance leading to Ilsan Lake Park, making the flow simple, and there are no height restrictions, allowing large electric vehicles such as buses and trucks to use it easily. Additionally, a wooden canopy was installed to enhance the visibility of the charging station and minimize the use of unnecessary materials to reduce carbon emissions.
Dongyoon Lee, head of the electric vehicle charging business development group at Brite Energy Partners (Water), noted that ‘the 46 rapid chargers, the largest scale in the country, are concentrated in one location, allowing electric vehicle users visiting KINTEX to charge without the need to wander around looking for charging stations.’ He also mentioned that with many chargers in place, it would be possible to charge smoothly without waiting even during peak hours when users gather.
Water plans to establish a total of 107 charging facilities at 14 locations in Goyang City, including ▲Lake Park ▲Comprehensive Agricultural and Fisheries Distribution Center ▲Tanhyeon Station Transfer Public Parking Lot ▲Daehwa Sports Park ▲Goyang Rehabilitation Sports Center. The project is expected to be completed within this month.
