LG Energy Solution announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Doosan Bobcat on the 19th to develop a battery pack solution for small construction equipment.

The two companies agreed to equip the representative models of Doosan Bobcat construction equipment with LG Energy Solution's cylindrical batteries as part of an electrification project. They also decided to jointly develop a standardized battery pack for construction equipment that can be applied to various products and collaborate to target key markets, including North America.

Additionally, they agreed to actively proceed with further discussions to expand electrification to agricultural and landscaping equipment products, such as tractors and skid-steer loaders.

In the case of construction equipment, the usage environment is often exposed to outdoor conditions such as snow, rain, or extreme heat, and it requires the ability to perform repeated outputs of varying sizes depending on the job type. Therefore, product stability is essential. Reliable operation is needed under extreme conditions, including large temperature differences, dust, and long product operating hours.

Park Hyun-cheol, vice president of Doosan Bobcat, said, "I am pleased to develop a pack suitable for small construction equipment based on LG Energy Solution's cells, which have excellent quality and stability," adding, "We will standardize battery packs for small construction equipment to provide solutions in regions such as North America, the largest global market."

Yoo Oh-sung, head of the small battery division at LG Energy Solution, noted, "I have high expectations as we collaborate with the global construction equipment company Doosan Bobcat on electrification technology development and business promotion," adding, "To lead the electrification market for various applications, we will continue to take first and best challenges in the future."
