The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization (hereinafter referred to as the organization) will recruit startups to participate in the '2025 BETTER里 (Battery)' demonstration project from the 17th to the 31st.

The 'BETTER里' project aims to provide startups with opportunities to expand into regions while increasing the resident population in areas with declining populations to revitalize the local economy.

This year, 14 startups will be selected through a public recruitment process, and the selected startups will be able to conduct tourism demonstration projects in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province, and Muju, Jeollabuk-do.

Not only corporations operating tourism-related businesses, but also companies within seven years of establishment that wish to expand into the tourism industry in connection with the region can apply.

The final selected corporations will receive a commercialization support fund of up to 40 million won and will be provided with administrative support and expert mentoring necessary for business operation. Additionally, the organization plans to support promotional marketing and provide opportunities for subsequent investment consolidation.

Detailed information related to the recruitment can be found on the Korea Tourism Industry Portal 'Tourraz.' In the battery project conducted last year, 20 tourism startups participated in customizing and selling regional tourism products in Chungbuk DanYang and Jecheon, and Gyeongbuk Andong and Bonghwa, resulting in approximately 5,000 visitors to those regions.
