T'way Air announced on the 13th that it will hire about 170 maintenance personnel, including new recruits, interns, and experienced staff, by the end of this year to strengthen its safety operation management.
The company has hired more than 50 maintenance workers by January and has closed application submissions for new recruits and interns in operational maintenance for the first half, with interviews set to take place starting the end of March.
The final successful candidates are expected to start in April and June in groups of 50, with training in both job functions and on-site education before being assigned to aircraft maintenance tasks.
T'way Air also plans to conduct additional recruitment of new maintenance workers in the second half of the year. For experienced maintenance personnel, ongoing recruitment is taking place in the operational maintenance institutional sector and the parts repair sector of airframe repair work, as well as for those in charge of aircraft maintenance education.
In addition, T'way Air has introduced a backup engine for the B737-8 aircraft to enhance safety and plans to modernize its fleet by increasing the number of B737-8 aircraft to 20 by the end of 2027. This modernization will also include five A330-900NEO aircraft to be introduced by 2026.
Moreover, according to the agreement signed with the Incheon International Airport Corporation last year for the construction of its own maintenance facility (hangar), approximately 150 billion won will be invested to build a hangar on a site of 20,000 pyeong (approximately 66,116 square meters).
Through this, the plan is to reduce dependence on overseas maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) and enhance maintenance quality to improve the safety and efficiency of aircraft operations.
A T'way Air official noted, "We prioritize safety as our top value and are continuing to expand our workforce and work on continuous investment improvements to strengthen safety management at a company-wide level."
