LOTTE Chemical announced on the 12th that it will supply recycled plastic materials for Samsung Electronics' latest smartphone, the Galaxy S25, thereby strengthening the resource circulation system collaboration between the two companies.
LOTTE Chemical recycles wafer tray waste used in the transfer of semiconductor wafers in the institutional sector of Samsung Electronics, turning it into polycarbonate (PC) material, one of the plastic raw materials. This material is applied to the SIM tray, side keys, and volume keys of the Galaxy S25 series smartphones in Samsung Electronics' mobile experience (MX) division.
LOTTE Chemical also supplies plastic materials recycled from discarded fishing nets. The plastic material mainly used in fishing nets is polyamide, known for its durability and strength, making it widely used across various industrial fields. However, the large amount of discarded fishing nets poses a serious threat to marine ecosystems.
A LOTTE Chemical official noted, “This collaboration is an achievement that simultaneously realizes environmental protection and corporate social responsibility,” adding, “We plan to further strengthen global competitiveness by expanding the development of sustainable recycled materials.”
