The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (hereafter referred to as ACCK) announced on the 9th that it will expand investment attraction from global corporations in partnership with North Gyeongsang Province ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.
ACCK signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with North Gyeongsang Province on the 7th at The K Hotel in Gyeongju to enhance economic cooperation and activate investment attraction. ACCK Chairman and Chief Executive Officer James Kim and North Gyeongsang Governor Lee Cheol-woo attended. This agreement is part of strategic cooperation to actively attract investment from foreign-invested corporations and strengthen global economic cooperation linked to the 2025 APEC summit.
The two organizations plan to collaborate based on this agreement to expand investments from global corporations within North Gyeongsang Province and to help it become a global investment hub. Particularly, as this year's APEC summit is held in Gyeongju, the two organizations will promote various collaborative activities, including attracting investments related to APEC, jointly hosting networking events, and discovering cooperation opportunities with global corporations.
James Kim said, "At this time before the APEC summit, this collaboration will be an important opportunity to showcase the investment potential of North Gyeongsang Province and the resilience of the Korean economy to the world," adding, "I will work closely with the governor and the Korean government to facilitate meaningful discussions between global corporate executives and policymakers."
Governor Lee said, "Collaboration with ACCK will be a crucial opportunity to successfully host the 2025 APEC summit and for North Gyeongsang to leap forward as a global economic center," and noted, "Through this MOU, I will do my best to ensure that U.S. corporations recognize North Gyeongsang as an optimal investment destination."
