Methane gas research startup Metec Holdings recently announced on the 7th that it has acquired 51% equity of digital livestock company Ulike Korea and secured management control.
Metec is the company that succeeded in developing the world's first equipment that measures (detects) methane gas (CH4) generated inside the stomach of cattle. It has also completed the development of a methane reduction capsule that reduces methane gas (CH4) generated inside the stomach of cattle and provides the necessary data for low-carbon certification.
Ulike is a livestock healthcare corporation that developed the world's first oral administration Internet of Things (IoT) bio capsule, "LiveCare." It has already expanded into about eight countries overseas. By administering the bio capsule LiveCare through cattle mouths and settling it inside the cattle's rumen, it collects accurate biological information without external environmental influences, which is then analyzed by artificial intelligence (AI) to provide real-time health management services through a dedicated app.
With this acquisition of management control, Metec can now target the healthcare markets of global livestock powerhouses such as Brazil, the United States, Denmark, and Australia by utilizing its methane capsule, Ulike's LiveCare, over 30 patents, and more than 1.3 billion livestock biological data.
Park Chan-mok, CEO of Metec, said, "We will actively target the U.S. and Brazil (South America) markets in collaboration with Ulike," adding, "We are pushing for the application of a livestock traceability management system involving over 1 million cattle to the Brazilian government's livestock traceability management system. We will also actively proceed with Series A investment attraction within the first half."
CEO Park will be appointed as a co-CEO alongside current representative Kim Hee-jin at the Ulike shareholders' meeting scheduled for the 31st.
