According to HD Hyundai, ExecutiveVice Chairman Chung met with Alex Karp, the chief executive officer of Palantir Technologies, at the Palantir office in Washington, D.C., to discuss the ongoing artificial intelligence (AI) shipyard project and cooperation plans in the defense sector. Palantir is a defense corporation that analyzes military data and proposes strategies using AI software.

HD Hyundai has been working with Palantir on the Future Shipyard project since 2021. The goal is to improve productivity by 30% and reduce the construction period by 30% by 2030. Since September of last year, HD Hyundai has also been jointly developing unmanned surface vessels with Palantir.

HD Hyundai noted, “The cooperation between the two companies will greatly enhance the security capabilities of the U.S. and South Korea, and that AI-based defense solutions will be a critical element in both countries' future national security strategies.”

Chung is scheduled to attend the energy conference CERAWeek in Houston, Texas, from the 10th.
