Women automotive journalists from 55 countries across 5 continents have selected the Hyundai Santa Fe as the 'Best Car' of the year.
Hyundai announced on the 6th that the Santa Fe won the 'Supreme Winner' award at the 2025 Women's Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY) event. WWCOTY judges evaluate vehicles in terms of safety, driving, technology, comfort, efficiency, eco-friendliness, cost-effectiveness, and gender equality.
WWCOTY assessed 81 vehicles that had launched in at least 40 countries or across at least 2 continents during the year 2024.
The Women's Worldwide Car of the Year recognized the best cars in 6 categories in January: Large SUV, Compact SUV, Urban Model, Large Car, 4x4 and Pick-up, and Performance and Luxury car.
As a result, the Hyundai Santa Fe won in the Large SUV category, and the Kia EV3 won in the Compact SUV category. Following its win in the Large SUV category, the Santa Fe was selected as the 'Best Car' of the Women's Worldwide Car of the Year, meaning it was the most outstanding vehicle among other category winners.
The judges of the Women's Worldwide Car of the Year praised the Santa Fe for its impressive H-shaped unique lamps, straight-line design, spacious interior, and for its powertrain options including a 1.6 turbo hybrid and a plug-in hybrid, along with its diverse and practical features.
A Hyundai official said, "We are pleased that the Santa Fe has won the 2025 Women's Worldwide Car of the Year, and we will continue to strive to develop products that can enhance our customers' lives."
Meanwhile, the Santa Fe continues to win major automotive awards, including 'Best SUV' at the 2024 Top Gear Awards hosted by the British automotive media Top Gear, and 'Best Large Internal Combustion Engine Car' at the 2024 Scotland Car of the Year.
The 5th generation Santa Fe has sold approximately 320,000 units globally since its debut in August 2023, proving its excellent marketability by the end of January this year.
