Doosan Enerbility has secured a gas power plant project worth 290 billion won in Qatar.

Doosan Enerbility noted that on the 20th of last month (local time), it signed a contract for the design, procurement, and construction (EPC) of a peaking unit gas power plant with Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC) worth 290 billion won on the 5th.

This contract is for a power plant located in the Ras Abu Fontas area, about 18 kilometers southeast of Doha, the capital of Qatar, led by Doosan Enerbility (55%) in a consortium with the Chinese state-owned company Shandong Electric Power Construction No. 3 Engineering Company (SEPCO-3, 45%).

Doosan Enerbility will be responsible for the design (E) and primary equipment procurement (P) of a power plant with a total capacity of 500 megawatts (MW), and will also handle the commissioning. The power plant is reported to consist of two F-class (250 MW) gas turbines, with the expected operational date in January 2027.

Doosan Enerbility successfully localized large gas turbines for power generation in 2019, supplying the first domestic gas turbines to the Gimpo Combined Heat and Power Plant. Since then, it has supplied main equipment for numerous gas power generation projects both domestically and abroad. In March 2023, it secured contracts for a 1,150 billion won 1,000 MW combined heat and power plant in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and following a contract for 500 MW steam turbines and generators, it agreed in March of last year to supply 150 billion won worth of 650 MW steam turbines and generators for Saudi Arabia's largest combined heat and power plant.
