Intellian Technologies announced on the 27th that it has signed a development and supply contract for Ka-band (26.5~40GHz) flat-panel antennas for the Lightspeed low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite network with Canadian satellite communications company Telesat.
Through this contract, Intellian Technologies plans to develop and supply Ka-band flat-panel antennas optimized for Telesat's Lightspeed low Earth orbit satellites, applying active electronically scanned array (AESA) technology.
The Lightspeed network is a next-generation network composed of hundreds of low Earth orbit satellites, aiming to provide stable and fast internet consolidation worldwide. While existing Starlink and Eutelsat-OneWeb utilize the Ku-band (12~18GHz) frequency band, the Lightspeed network plans to provide faster communication services using the Ka-band frequency band.
Intellian Technologies holds the number one market share in maritime satellite communication antennas and is expanding its business into the low Earth orbit and medium Earth orbit satellite communication markets. The company has received recognition for its technology by launching the second low Earth orbit flat-panel antenna in the global market after Starlink.
An Intellian Technologies official noted, "This contract follows our development contract for parabolic antennas and ground gateway systems with Telesat, and it will further strengthen the partnership between the two companies."
