SK IE Technology announced on the 27th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with battery corporation Gotion on the 26th (local time) to enhance cooperation in supplying separators for electric vehicle and energy storage system (ESS) batteries in North America and Europe.

Gotion, a battery corporation established in 2006, currently operates factories in locations including Fremont, California, and Göttingen, Germany. It is considered one of the fastest battery corporations in expanding overseas operations.

SK IE Technology has already conducted verification of supplying separators for electric vehicle and ESS batteries at Gotion’s battery factory. If a separator supply contract is signed in the future, SK IE Technology plans to supply separators to Gotion’s battery factory in Illinois, USA, which is currently under construction, and to its factory in Slovakia, Europe.

SK IE Technology signed a long-term supply contract for prismatic lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery separators worth 291.4 billion won with a global client in early February. During a recent conference call, SK IE Technology also noted that discussions for new orders to secure long-term supply contracts are actively underway.

Lee Sang-min, president of SK IE Technology, said, “SK IE Technology will continue to elevate its corporate value in the global market by leveraging its product competitiveness that can respond to all battery form factors and the strengths of its global supply chain.”
