Kia held a global media event for its electric vehicle strategy called '2025 Kia EV Day' on the 24th (local time) in Tarragona, Spain, where it unveiled the new EV4 for the first time in the world.
The EV4 is a compact electrified sedan that Kia is showcasing for the first time. Previously focusing on selling electric vehicles based on SUVs (Sports Utility Vehicles), Kia expanded its lineup with the launch of the EV4.
The EV4 will be available in a long-range model featuring an 81.4 kWh battery and a standard model equipped with a 58.3 kWh battery.
The long-range model takes about 31 minutes to charge the battery from 10% to 80% using a charger rated at 350 kW based on its own measurement criteria. The combined efficiency of the standard model and long-range model of the EV4 is 5.8 km/kWh, the highest among Kia's electric vehicle lineup.
Kia has applied 17-inch aerodynamic wheels to the EV4 and refined the curvature shape behind the wheel arches to optimize airflow around the wheel area. Additionally, Kia efficiently improved cooling resistance and airflow. As a result, the EV4 achieves a driving range of 533 km on a single charge, the longest among Hyundai Motor Group's electric vehicles.
The EV4 enhances driving convenience and ride comfort by applying the i-Pedal 3.0. The i-Pedal 3.0 is designed so that the i-Pedal feature can be activated at all regenerative braking stages, allowing acceleration, deceleration, and stopping using only the accelerator pedal.
In addition, V2L (Vehicle to Load) functionality, which allows the electric vehicle's battery power to be drawn for use externally, was also applied to maximize the vehicle's utility for customers.
Kia has equipped the EV4 with Kia's artificial intelligence (AI) assistant and enhanced connectivity specifications. By subscribing to the 'Streaming Premium' service from the Kia Connect Store, users can access various content like YouTube, Netflix, Disney Plus, and games through the EV4's 12.3-inch infotainment display and Harman Kardon premium sound system.
Kia also plans to offer more diverse themes in collaboration with the KBO League, in addition to the existing themes available for purchase in the Kia Connect Store, such as those based on American professional basketball (NBA).
The EV4 also features the latest connectivity specifications, including a 'Built-in Cam 2 Plus' that includes a parking action detection mode, digital key 2, and wireless phone connectivity (Apple CarPlay, Android Auto).
Advanced driver-assistance systems and various convenience features have also been applied. Kia has equipped the EV4 with features including steering wheel grip detection, front collision avoidance assistance, rear side collision avoidance assistance, lane departure prevention assistance, intelligent speed limit assistance, rear side monitoring, driver attention warning, navigation-based smart cruise control, lane keeping assistance 2, and highway driving assistance 2.
Additionally, features like a head-up display, surround view monitor, rear cross-collision avoidance assistance, front/side/rear parking distance warning, rear parking collision avoidance assistance, remote smart parking assistance, safe exit warning, and rear passenger alert have been applied.
The EV4 is available in a total of eight colors, including ▲Morning Haze ▲Magma Red ▲Yacht Blue (matte) ▲Snow White Pearl ▲Ivory Silver (gloss/matte) ▲Shale Gray ▲Aurora Black Pearl.
The interior is designed with a length of 4730 mm, a wheelbase of 2820 mm, a width of 1860 mm, and a height of 1480 mm, providing ample headroom and legroom. The trunk size is a class-leading 490 liters. Kia has widened the area of the EV4's trunk opening to enhance convenience and usability when loading.
The EV4 is the first model from Kia to apply the 'Interior Mode,' allowing users to easily switch the seat position and lighting brightness with simple operations.
Kia plans to launch the EV4 hatchback, a locally strategic model, in the European market this year. Subsequently, it will operate an optimized lineup for each region to target the global market.
