Choi Chang-won, chairman of the SK SUPEX Council, said, "Leaders need to pinpoint the core and essence of the business and strive to find solutions, and now is a time when we must be more vigilant than ever."
Choi made the remarks at the February SK SUPEX Council held on the 25th at the SK Seorin Building in Jongno, Seoul. About 20 CEOs of major affiliates attended, including Jang Yong-ho, CEO of SK Group, Park Sang-kyu, CEO of SK Innovation, Kwak Noh-jung, CEO of SK hynix, and Ryu Young-sang, CEO of SK Telecom.
Choi noted, "In the rapidly changing global situation, such as the triangular wave, stakeholders are throwing various questions at SK," and added, "It is essential that leaders do not evade questions but instead, with courage, find solutions to break through."
SK CEOs reached a consensus that a nimble response to changes in the business environment (tariffs), inflation, and artificial intelligence (AI) is necessary, and that each company must enhance Operation Improvement to secure fundamental competitiveness.
Choi identified continuous innovation in the semiconductor business, overcoming the battery value chain chasm (temporary demand slowdown), sustaining financial soundness, and returning to "the fundamentals and principles" leadership as major challenges the company faces.
The CEOs agreed that continuously answering the questions and concerns of stakeholders, including the market, is the essence of management and a responsibility to the market, and they committed to responsibly addressing the tasks given to leaders to meet expectations.
During the meeting, Choi and the CEOs also reviewed the progress of last year's rebalancing (business restructuring). As the flow of performance improvement has begun due to strengthening financial and business structures and operational efficiency since last year, the plan is to continue to innovate the corporate structure and build the capacity to seize future markets such as artificial intelligence (AI).
