Sangsangin Shipbuilding Machinery announced on the 21st that it will participate in the North Sea offshore wind farm project of the Dutch state power company TenneT.
This project is an infrastructure construction project that connects the North Sea offshore wind farm to the interior of the Netherlands and Germany via high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cables.
Sangsangin Shipbuilding Machinery is responsible for the panel production of the offshore platform (substation) to be used in the 2-gigawatt (GW) transmission network projects of TenneT, specifically the Balwin 4 and Lanwin 1 projects. Sangsangin Shipbuilding Machinery signed a panel production contract with McDermott, which is in charge of the institutional sector, last August.
Sangsangin Shipbuilding Machinery collaborates with daily marine equipment manufacturer Maekyung Marine to produce the panels. These panels are scheduled to be finally assembled at McDermott's factory in Indonesia before being installed in the North Sea.
Sangsangin Shipbuilding Machinery hosted a steel cutting ceremony on the 19th in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, to commemorate the project launch. Attendees included Kim Dong-won, CEO of Sangsangin Shipbuilding Machinery; Kim Myung-jin, CEO of Maekyung Marine; officials from TenneT, the primary contractor; McDermott, the secondary contractor; and General Electric (GE).
