Hanwha Aerospace and Hanwha System announced on the 19th that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a strategic partnership to strengthen the quality management and certification capabilities of military supplies with the Tawazun Quality and Conformity (TQC), a quality inspection agency under the Tawazun Economic Council, which corresponds to the defense acquisition agency of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The strategic partnership between Hanwha and TQC is based on mutual technology exchange, aiming to collaborate on the development of related processes that enable UAE defense products to meet global standards in testing and evaluation. Hanwha plans to expand business opportunities in the UAE market based on cooperation in the quality inspection and reliability certification of UAE weapons systems and defense materials.

TQC is an institution similar to the National Defense Technology Quality Authority (Defense Quality Agency) under the Tawazun Economic Council, responsible for procuring defense materials in the UAE. It was established to efficiently manage the operation and distribution of defense materials and ensure quality assurance. Currently, it is establishing national standard testing and evaluation facilities and quality and certification procedures in the UAE.

Hanwha expects that exchanging testing and certification technologies for multiple field systems such as ground systems, guided weapons, and surveillance reconnaissance with TQC will enable more efficient local production and operation in the future. Hanwha plans to localize and enhance advanced Korean defense technology in the UAE based on cooperation with TQC.

A representative from Hanwha System noted, "Through this MOU, we will establish a long-term joint cooperation system in the Middle East market, where the advanced technology of K-defense has been proven," and added, "We will contribute to the quality management of UAE weapons systems and help strengthen the defense capabilities of the exporting country."
