The advertisement for Hyundai Motor Company produced by the advertising agency INNOCEAN has been selected as one of the 10 most memorable Super Bowl commercials of the past decade.
The Super Bowl is one of the largest sporting events in the United States, watched by more than 100 million people. Each year, over 50 prestigious global brands execute Super Bowl ads, making it a major advertising stage that attracts attention not only in the North American market but also worldwide. Super Bowl advertisements, which cost hundreds of millions of won for a single spot, are considered a barometer of the global industrial landscape.
INNOCEAN announced on the 13th that the Hyundai Genesis advertisement 'First Date,' produced by its U.S. subsidiary in 2016, has been selected as one of the 'Top 10 Most Memorable Super Bowl Ads of the Past Decade.'
Recently, the Super Bowl, the championship game of the National Football League (NFL), concluded successfully, and this was the result of a survey conducted by the consulting firms VCCP and Kauri Consulting involving 1,000 U.S. residents.
The Hyundai advertisement ranked 4th, following Budweiser, Doritos, and Heinz. In particular, Hyundai was the only automotive brand included in the top 10.
'First Date' features humorous content where a father uses the vehicle tracking feature of the Genesis G80 to monitor his daughter's first date. Popular entertainer Kevin Hart takes on the role of the overly protective dad, showcasing his comedic acting and bringing laughs. Additionally, the advertisement naturally highlights Genesis's cutting-edge features, receiving positive reviews even within its comedic storyline.
While automotive brands have been considered 'big players' in Super Bowl advertising, this year only Jeep and Ram participated.
INNOCEAN CEO Lee Yong-woo said, 'A good advertisement remains etched in consumers' memories over time, so we will strive to present differentiated, top creative works in the global market moving forward.'
