SK Innovation's subsidiary SK ENMOV has developed a next-generation refrigerant that enhances heating and cooling efficiency and has obtained international certification.
On the 12th, SK ENMOV announced that two products of its self-developed next-generation refrigerant have received the refrigerant international certification known as R-Number from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). The R-Number certification is awarded after a comprehensive review of the refrigerant's material properties, including safety and efficiency, under ASHRAE.

Including the certification obtained for one refrigerant product last June, SK ENMOV has received the R-Number certification for a total of three products to date. Previously, SK ENMOV partnered with Hyundai Motor Group to develop a next-generation refrigerant for vehicles that improves heating and cooling performance by over 30%, resulting in the development of three products in the process.
The recently certified refrigerant product is a next-generation refrigerant that can be installed in all vehicle air conditioning systems and has been specially developed for electric vehicles that require dual heating and cooling refrigerant. The company stated that it also meets global environmental regulatory standards in the U.S. and Europe.
SK ENMOV reported that performance evaluations of the next-generation refrigerant products were conducted under conditions identical to those of currently commercialized electric vehicle air conditioning systems, demonstrating excellent heating and cooling performance and improvements in the efficiency of the heat pump, a key component for thermal management.
Kim Won-ki, president of SK ENMOV, said, "We have quickly secured refrigerant technology based on our more than 10 years of accumulated research and development capabilities, and we will continue to strengthen our thermal management capabilities to solidify our position as a leading global refrigerant technology corporation."
