A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a 48-year-old teacher, identified as A, who fatally stabbed 8-year-old Kim Ha-neul at an elementary school in Daejeon.

The Daejeon Police Agency stated on the 11th that an arrest warrant and a search-and-seizure warrant had been issued for the teacher. The police plan to apprehend A as soon as their condition improves after being in the intensive care unit following surgery the previous afternoon in order to investigate the circumstances of the incident.

On Nov. 11, friends of Kim Ha-nul, who was killed by a teacher the previous day, are visiting the funeral home at Konyang University Hospital in Daejeon to pay their respects. Kim's father reportedly revealed his daughter’s name, date of birth, and a photo to express the hope that such incidents do not happen again. /Courtesy of News1

In accordance with the search-and-seizure warrant, the police also plan to secure A's residence, vehicle, mobile phone, and medical records related to depression. They will analyze the materials to investigate whether the act was premeditated and the motives behind it.

It is reported that the police will conduct an autopsy on Ha-neul's body as early as the 12th. The family has reportedly changed their initial stance and agreed to the autopsy.

Ha-neul was found unconscious after being stabbed in the audiovisual room on the second floor of the elementary school around 5:50 p.m. on the 10th, and although she was transported to the hospital, she died. A was found at the scene with stab wounds to the arms and neck and confessed to the crime before undergoing emergency surgery. A had returned to work last December after taking a leave of absence due to depression.
