Daedong Group's AI-based intelligent robotics corporation 'Daedong Robotics' announced on the 10th that it has appointed Dr. Ye Jun-gu, a global expert in robotics, as its new CEO.
The new CEO, Ye Jun-gu, has received several prestigious awards, including the U.S. Presidential Award, and has published more than 120 papers and academic texts, including the notable book "Introduction to Autonomous Manipulation (Springer)." His research achievements and contributions as the chair and honorary chair of the International Robotics Society led to his selection as a Life Fellow Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2014, making him one of the largest technical societies.
The new CEO graduated from the Department of Mechanical Design at Seoul National University and obtained a master's and doctorate in robotics from Oregon State University in the United States. He then served as a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Information and Computer Science at the University of Hawaii, the founding director of the Autonomous Systems Lab, the director of the Information Intelligent Systems Program at the National Science Foundation (NSF) headquarters in Washington, D.C., and the director of the NSF East Asia and Pacific Region at the U.S. Embassy in Japan.
In South Korea, he served as the fifth and sixth presidents of Korea Aerospace University and later became the founding director of the Robot and Media Research Institute at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) and served as the third and fourth presidents of the Korea Robot Convergence Research Institute (KIRO) to foster the development of the domestic robotics industry.
In collaboration with over 200 corporations, including Daedong, Hanwha Systems, LIG Nex1, POSCO, and Samsung E&A, he has promoted various technology development projects in the robotics and AI fields, developing robotic technologies for diverse areas such as disaster safety, construction, and agriculture. He also established the Robot Talent Innovation Center (RoTIC), which has the largest robotics education facility in the country and trains over 1,000 field professionals annually.
New CEO Ye Jun-gu stated, "With Daedong's autonomous tractor, precision agriculture, and advanced agricultural technologies, along with the globally accumulated marketing capabilities of the Daedong group company Daedong AI Lab, I will maximize Daedong Robotics' AI autonomous robot technological capabilities to contribute to the growth of Daedong Group as an AI-based intelligent global robotics corporation."
