On the 10th, Hanwha Precision Machinery changed its name to Hanwha Semitech. Kim Dong-seon, the third son of Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Seung-yeon, joined as the Vice President in charge of future vision at Hanwha Semitech.
The new name (Hanwha Semitech) combines Hanwha with semiconductor, technology. Hanwha Semitech has produced advanced manufacturing technology-based equipment, including Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment, semiconductor backend equipment, and machine tools for 36 years. Last year, it acquired the semiconductor front-end business. It is developing thermocompression bonder (TC) equipment essential for manufacturing artificial intelligence high bandwidth memory (HBM) and the next-generation semiconductor packaging technology hybrid bonder.
Hanwha Semitech noted, "The new name contains the determination to become a comprehensive semiconductor manufacturing solution corporation leading the global market through advanced technology."
Vice President Kim is expected to lead the market infiltration of cutting-edge semiconductor equipment, including HBM TC bonders. Vice President Kim has previously been in charge of new business development at Hanwha Vision and Hanwha Robotics.
Vice President Kim announced a no-salary management policy at Hanwha Semitech. He stated, "We will change the landscape of the semiconductor manufacturing market based on innovative technology achieved through continuous research and development (R&D) investment."
Hanwha Semitech is 100% owned by Hanwha Vision. As of the end of September last year, Hanwha Group's holding company, Hanwha Corporation, owned 33.95% equity.
