Hope Friend Kia and LG CHEM have launched the interview segment 'Daedamhae' of their ESG education platform Green Talk, as part of the Like Green initiative, which revealed the first episode of 'Daedamhae Season 2' focused on the ESG trends of the 2030 generation.
The first episode of Season 2, hosted by LG CHEM's Lee Young-jun, discussed the '2025 ESG trends' of the 2030 generation with Jeong Seok-hwan from the Lifestyle Change Research Institute.
The first episode highlighted the point that ESG, previously addressed only from the perspective of corporations, is expanding into everyday life. It specifically examined the trends related to 'eco-friendliness,' which comprises 70-80% of various ESG areas.
Particularly, 'guilt' has been noted as a keyword that is steadily rising in mention. Since the 2020s, the target of guilt has expanded from close interpersonal relationships, like family, to include 'the Earth and animals' due to issues such as waste production, environmental destruction, and animal cruelty.
As delivery apps became popular during the COVID-19 period, issues related to plastic containers, environmental pollution from discarded masks, and the usage of paper straws emerged, resulting in an increased sense of guilt regarding everyday waste production. Consequently, there is a growing empathy towards environmental issues and animal protection, along with movements aimed at making changes through everyday practices.
Corporations are also seeking to adapt to consumer movements. They are systematically utilizing eco-friendly materials and managing processes, sharing ESG indicators with partners and subcontractors, reflecting concrete movements toward ESG implementation.
Jeong Seok-hwan from the Lifestyle Change Research Institute stated, 'Observing ESG trends is important not as a trend but from the perspective of tendencies,' and noted, 'In the future, we will be able to explore daily life through data, allowing society to move in a better direction.'
Park Chan-wook, head of Hope Friend Kia, remarked, 'ESG will become an important culture of our society that naturally integrates into the lives of individuals, corporations, and communities, no longer just the concern of a few companies or experts.'
Meanwhile, Hope Friend Kia and LG CHEM have been conducting the Like Green educational social contribution project since 2021 to help foster a proper ESG culture. Since last year, they have launched a YouTube channel called 'Green Talk,' showcasing various content related to ESG.
