Hanwha Group noted that Vice Chairman Kim Dong-kwan attended President Donald Trump's inauguration ceremony in Washington, D.C., on the 20th (local time) and built a global network with key cabinet members and political and business figures from the Trump administration.
According to Hanwha Group, Vice Chairman Kim had an extensive schedule during his 5-day, 4-night stay. On the evening before the inauguration, the 19th, he communicated with notable figures like Mark Rubio, nominated U.S. Secretary of State; Pete Hegseth, nominated U.S. Secretary of Defense; and Mike Waltz, U.S. National Security Advisor, at a candlelight dinner held at the National Building Museum. He also exchanged opinions with Doug Burgum, nominee for U.S. Secretary of the Interior, regarding the second Trump administration's energy policy. Additionally, he met with U.S. Republican lawmakers and CEOs of global defense corporations.
Hanwha Group explained that, “As cooperation between South Korea and the U.S. in the shipbuilding and defense sectors is expected to strengthen following the inauguration of the Trump administration, Vice Chairman Kim took time to introduce the business capabilities of Hanwha Ocean and Hanwha Aerospace through meetings with the key defense and security officials of the new U.S. government and sought business opportunities in the U.S.”
