LG Energy Solution announced on the 20th that it has obtained Level 3 certification for its Cyber Security Management System (CSMS) based on the international standard ISO/SAE 21434 from the international testing and certification organization TÜV Rheinland. It is the first domestic battery company to receive Level 3 certification.
CSMS certification is awarded to corporations that have systems in place to manage cyber security risks related to vehicle software and electrical and electronic components. LG Energy Solution received CSMS Level 2 certification last April and, in less than a year, successfully achieved Level 3 certification. While Level 2 certification verifies that rigorous security systems are established from design to production processes, Level 3 certification assesses whether the highest level of security systems is maintained throughout the entire process from design to mass production.
Through the newly acquired CSMS Level 3 certification, LG Energy Solution expects that its capabilities related to cyber security management systems will enhance the trust of major global customers. The company is not only engaged in the production of electric vehicle batteries but is also providing various services based on core data such as users' driving information, battery performance, and safety through its Battery Management Total Solution (BMTS).
Lee Dal-hoon, head of the BMS development group at LG Energy Solution, noted, “As the importance of cyber security continues to grow, we have demonstrated our high technical capabilities and trust through this CSMS Level 3 certification” and added, “We will maximize customer value and strengthen our competitiveness in the global market through safe data-driven business expansion and innovative solutions.”
