The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 14th that it implemented a program last year to connect excellent software (SW) developers from India, hiring 206 to support small and venture companies struggling to recruit specialized SW personnel.
To recruit Indian SW developers wishing to work for Korean corporations, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups held three recruitment briefings in New Delhi, India, last year. Additionally, the Venture Business Association, the leading organization for the project, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Pan-IT Alumni Foundation for smooth project implementation.
As a result, 358 domestic venture corporations applied last year, with 206 Indian SW developers ultimately hired by 41 corporations.
Of the 206, 201 were connected to corporations quickly through remote hiring, conducting projects in India without the hassle of visa issuance and other procedures. For five positions where developers from India wanted to work in Korea, support was provided for visa issuance and initial expense.
The Indian developers involved have over three years of experience and span various fields, including AI development, mobile development, and backend development.
One corporation participating in the project noted, "We hired an Indian AI developer with five years of experience and are very satisfied overall with their work ability and performance," and expressed an intention for additional hiring, highlighting the advantage of quickly understanding local conditions through overseas talent.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups plans to recruit organizations for the overseas excellent SW developer recruitment connection project until January 20, 2025, and aims to officially start in March.
Kim Bong-deok, the director of venture policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, said, "We intend to continue the project to alleviate the labor shortages of SW personnel in small and venture corporations and to assist with global expansion in 2025," adding that they are also seeking to utilize foreign students studying in Korea.
