Hyundai Motor Company first unveiled the Ioniq 5 N DK Edition, developed in collaboration with Japanese racer Keiichi Tsuchiya, on the 10th.
According to Hyundai Motor Company, the 'DK' in the Ioniq 5 N DK, which was unveiled at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon held at the Makuhari Messe Convention Center in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, stands for Keiichi Tsuchiya's nickname 'Drift King'. The Ioniq 5 N DK Edition will be launched in South Korea and Japan in the first half of this year.
Hyundai Motor Company noted, "We developed the optimal package by testing tuning parts from various manufacturers at local circuits and winding courses with Keiichi Tsuchiya." An alloy called duralumin, used in aircraft, was applied to the 6P monoblock caliper (the hydraulic device that clamps the brakes). The brake pads have a surface area that is 54% larger than that of the existing model, increasing the coefficient of friction.
Hyundai also used 21-inch lightweight forged wheels featuring a special serrated machining structure on the tire seating surface. This enhances friction and the lowering spring is intended to lower the vehicle's center of gravity. Components like the front splitter, which controls air resistance, are made of carbon fiber, increasing the 'downforce' (the force pushing the car against the road).
Park Jun-woo, head of the N Management Division, said, "Through the package combining Tsuchiya's driving expertise and Hyundai Motor Company's technology, we can provide a special experience for customers who enjoy driving and love high-performance cars."
