Hyundai Motor Group achieved record sales of 1.7 million units in the U.S. market last year.

Hyundai Motor Group announced on the 5th that it recorded total sales of 1,708,293 units for Hyundai and Kia in the U.S. market last year. This is a 3.4% increase from the previous year (1,652,821 units), marking the first time sales in the U.S. surpassed 1.7 million units.

Hyundai sold 911,805 units in the U.S. market last year, an increase of 4.8% compared to the previous year, while Kia sold 796,488 units, a 1.8% increase. Hyundai's luxury brand Genesis sold 75,003 units, up 8.4% year-over-year.

The performance of Hyundai and Kia was driven by RV (Recreation Vehicle) models, including SUVs (Sports Utility Vehicles), and eco-friendly vehicles such as electric cars.

Hyundai's electric car, the Ioniq 5 (44,400 units), surged by 31%, while the large SUV Palisade (110,55 units) increased by 23%, leading sales. Kia's EV9 (22,017 units), Sportage (161,917 units), Carnival (49,726 units), K3 and K4 (139,778 units), and EV6 (21,715 units), as well as the Telluride (115,504 units) each recorded the highest annual sales, approaching 800,000 units.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Group maintained its position among the 'top four' for two consecutive years, following GM, Toyota, and Ford in the U.S. market last year. In 2024, the rankings for U.S. automobile sales were as follows: 1st GM (2,689,346 units), 2nd Toyota (2,332,623 units), and 3rd Ford (2,065,161 units). Honda (1,423,857 units) followed Hyundai in 5th place, with Nissan and Mitsubishi (1,033,851 units) in 6th.
