Jeju Air apologized on the morning of the 29th for the incident that occurred at Muan International Airport in Muan County, Jeollanam-do, and stated that it would do its utmost to address the situation.
On that day, Jeju Air posted a notice on its website and said, "We will do everything possible regarding this incident" and "We apologize for causing concern."
Jeju Air included contact information for inquiries from passengers' families and the public relations center along with the notice. Families of passengers can check using the reservation number, travel date, and names of passengers.
Jeju Air convened an emergency meeting and is confirming the specific circumstances of the incident and any casualties.
At around 9:03 a.m. that day, Jeju Air flight 7C 2216, which was landing at Muan International Airport, veered off the runway at the end point and collided with the airport's outer wall. Currently, there are reported to be 47 fatalities.
The aircraft was arriving from Bangkok, Thailand, with 175 passengers on board (173 South Koreans and 2 Thais) and 6 crew members.
