Jeju Air suspended operations of its social media accounts, including Instagram and YouTube, following the aircraft accident that occurred at Muan International Airport on the 29th.
As of 7:30 p.m. that day, Jeju Air's official YouTube account was changed to an inaccessible state. The YouTube account displayed the message, 'This channel is not available.'
Jeju Air's official Instagram account was temporarily deleted that afternoon and then restored, leaving only one public announcement post. This was stated by Jeju Air CEO Kim I-bae during a briefing at 2 p.m.
The content on Jeju Air's social media accounts mainly featured travel-related posts. Following the accident, Jeju Air deemed it inappropriate to continue operating the accounts, leading to the removal of posts and the closure of the accounts. Jeju Air also noted that it had the highest number of subscribers among national airline social media accounts as of last August.
At 9:03 a.m. that day, Jeju Air flight 7C2216 crashed into the exterior wall of the airport after landing on the fuselage at Muan International Airport in Jeollanam-do. It is estimated that most of the 181 passengers on board perished, excluding two individuals, due to the aircraft being completely consumed by the fire. The fuselage of the aircraft was burned to the extent that no shape remained, except for the tail section.
