Korean Air marks the 30th anniversary of its service to China. Korean Air has been operating 27 routes to China, serving as a bridge between South Korea and China.
According to Korean Air on the 23rd, Korean Air began its route from Seoul to Beijing on Dec. 22, 1994, followed by flights to Tianjin and Qingdao on the 24th, and Shenyang on the 27th, pioneering the skies of China. As of December this year, it operates 27 routes to 21 cities in China. The route recovery rate has been raised to about 95% compared to December 2019, prior to the coronavirus pandemic.
Korean Air has carried out various social contribution activities in China over the past 30 years. Since 2008, as part of its community contribution project in China, known as the Love Plan, it has donated books and computers to Chinese children. Since 2007, it has planted 1.57 million trees in the Kubuqi Desert in Inner Mongolia, contributing to environmental protection and promoting friendship between the two countries.
Korean Air will hold commemoration events at four airports in China to mark the 30th anniversary of its service. On Christmas Eve, the 24th, it plans to hold events for passengers at Tianjin Binhai International Airport and Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport. The events will target passengers on the KE806 flight from Tianjin to Incheon and the KE846 flight from Qingdao to Incheon.
Previously, on the 22nd, various gifts were presented to passengers at Beijing Capital International Airport and Shenyang Taoxian International Airport. Business class round-trip tickets to Korea were given to the 30th passengers checking in on flights KE2202 from Beijing to Gimpo and KE832 from Shenyang to Incheon. All passengers received eco bags featuring the 30th anniversary logo.
Park Yo-han, head of Korean Air's China regional headquarters, noted, "Over the past 30 years, Korean Air has consistently expanded exchanges and cooperation with China, and in the future, it will continue to strengthen its role as a bridge between the two countries and continuously strive to expand routes to various cities in China."
