Kia unveiled the 4-meter-long compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) Syros for the first time in India on the 22nd. Kia plans to expand its market starting with sales in India next year, moving into the Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Africa, and Middle East regions.
Syros is named after one of the islands in the Cyclades archipelago in Greece. The company explained that it reflects the image of Syros Island, where tradition harmonizes with Western culture.
The exterior of Syros emphasizes boldness and functionality based on Kia's design philosophy of Opposites United. It features front starmap signature LED lighting and a digital Tiger Face. The sides showcase dynamic lines and 17-inch crystal-cut alloy wheels, providing a sporty feel. It also includes puddle lamps with the Kia logo and streamlined door handles.
Syros measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,805 mm in width, and 1,625 mm in height, with an interior based on a 2,550 mm wheelbase, featuring sliding and reclining rear seats and 60:40 partitioning seats. It is equipped with front and rear ventilated seats, a 12.3-inch HD display cluster, a 5-inch climate control, and a 12.3-inch infotainment system. It also includes a double D-cut steering wheel, a dual panoramic sunroof, ambient mood lamps, a Harman Kardon premium sound system, and a wireless charging system.
Kia has applied wireless software updates to Syros. It keeps the controller software up to date through wireless communication between the cloud server and the vehicle without the need to visit service centers or connect separate equipment. Kia Connect 2.0 is also equipped with features like SOS emergency assistance, real-time vehicle diagnostics, and stolen vehicle tracking.
Syros offers a lineup of gasoline and diesel engines. The 1.0 gasoline turbo engine has a maximum output of 120 horsepower and a maximum torque of 172 Nm, while the 1.5 diesel engine has a maximum output of 116 horsepower and a maximum torque of 250 Nm.
Lee Kwang-gu, head of Kia's India headquarters, noted, "We will further strengthen our position in the Indian market through Syros, which is equipped with advanced technology and bold design."
