Hyundai Motor revealed on the 20th that it will unveil the key specifications and price of the all-new Palisade, a large sport utility vehicle (SUV) set for launch early next year, and will start pre-orders. The new Palisade has become larger than the previous model, adding practicality. The next-generation hybrid system will also be applied for the first time, enhancing output and efficiency.

The new Palisade is a completely revamped model presented by Hyundai Motor six years after its initial launch in November 2018. It is available in two versions: gasoline and hybrid, with choices for seven or nine seats. The gasoline model is expected to be delivered to customers in mid-January, while the hybrid model will undergo certification procedures before release in the first half of next year.

The new Palisade features a length of 5060mm, which is 65mm longer than the previous transfer, and a wheelbase of 2970mm, increased by 70mm (the distance between the centers of the front and rear wheels). The spacious interior includes lower storage space and a console box that opens with dual doors, maximizing practicality. The nine-seat model is equipped with a foldable multi-console that can also be used as a center seat in the first row.

Thanks to a 35mm increase in the rear overhang (the distance from the center of the rear wheels to the end of the rear bumper) compared to the previous model, the third-row seats can slide forward by up to 70mm. The cargo space offers a maximum capacity of 615 liters (L), sufficient for loading four golf bags and a Boston bag at once.

Hyundai Motor has applied the 2.5 turbo hybrid powertrain for the first time in the new Palisade. The 2.5 turbo hybrid model delivers a combined output of 334 horsepower. Based on high fuel efficiency, it is expected to achieve a driving range of over 1000km on a single tank. Specific fuel economy figures will be disclosed once the government certification process is complete.

The gasoline model will also feature a 2.5 turbo gasoline engine instead of the existing 3.8 gasoline engine. The 2.5 turbo gasoline model has a maximum output of 281 horsepower and a peak torque of 43.0kgf∙m, with a combined fuel economy of 9.7km/ℓ. By applying a turbo system that increases peak torque compared to before, the initial acceleration response has been improved.

For the first time in Hyundai Motor's SUV models, the preview electronic controlled suspension (Electronic Controlled Suspension, ECS) has also been applied. The preview electronic controlled suspension uses various sensors and navigation map data installed in the vehicle to assess road information and driving conditions. It minimizes pitching (front and rear movement) and yawing (left and right movement) to ensure a comfortable ride, according to Hyundai Motor.

Advanced features such as forward collision-avoidance assist and smart cruise control, along with interior fingerprint authentication systems (personalization, ignition, payment) and in-car payment options, have been added extensively. Unlike before, users can utilize the remote smart parking assist (RSPA) function with a smartphone without a smart key, and various personalized new car options like LED lamps and side steps are also offered.
