On the 19th, Daedong, a domestic agricultural machinery corporation, announced that it has implemented an organizational restructuring and promotions with a focus on revitalizing future businesses and exploring new overseas markets by 2025.
Daedong has set major goals for next year, including revitalizing future businesses such as ▲AI, robotics, and smart farming ▲securing a foothold in strategic growth markets like compact construction equipment ▲maximizing revenue and profitability compared to 2024.
First, Daedong has established a new domestic business division by integrating the platform division, responsible for related technology and business planning, and the domestic sales organization for the domestic sales of future business items like autonomous agricultural machinery, agricultural robots, precision farming services, and connected services.
Lee Kwang-wook, who has led the platform division, will take charge of the domestic business division to drive the business. The plan is to build a growth foundation and successful experience in the domestic market before entering the global market.
A new CCE division was also established to expand the global sales of its new product, compact construction equipment, and to explore new markets such as Turkey and Ukraine. This division will expand sales channels and product lines, including Skid Steer Loader, Compact Track Loader, and Mini Excavator, the core products of CCE, aiming to secure a revenue base. Plans are also underway to explore new sales methods, including CCE rental and leasing businesses.
To enhance synergy between existing businesses and future research and development (R&D) and to strengthen product competitiveness, the R&D planning division has been launched. This year, Daedong established Daedong AI Lab and Daedong Robotics to lead the group's AI and robotics businesses.
In addition, to share technology development information and direction for market- and customer-centered product development and to facilitate constant communication and collaboration, the Seoul AI and Robotics Center and the group integrated R&D center in Daegu have been established. The R&D planning division will establish Daedong's mid- to long-term R&D strategy and manage overall product and technology development projects.
To cultivate Europe as a solid second base market, Yoon Chi-hwan, the CFO of the North American subsidiary, has been appointed as the head of the European subsidiary. Despite the sluggish agricultural machinery market in Europe, Daedong is improving its business structure, focusing on small and medium-sized tractors (under 60 horsepower) to mid-sized tractors (61-140 horsepower), aiming for double-digit growth in sales of the European subsidiary compared to the previous year and increasing the share of mid-sized tractors from over 20% in 2023 to 40% in 2024.
The new head of the European subsidiary will not only establish strategies to expand the local market share and increase sales of mid-sized tractors but will also focus on executing and managing the strategy for entering future business in the European market.
Kwon Ki-jae, the head of Daedong's group management office, noted, "We have reorganized the planning, development, and launch system for products and services from the customer perspective and restructured the organization to fully explore new businesses and new markets in a highly uncertain global environment." He added, "Next year, Daedong will provide products and services that will create the future of the Korean agricultural industry, including agricultural robots, precision farming, connected services, and smart farming."
