The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM) announced on the 19th that it has appointed Henry Haggard, who served as the Director General of the U.S. Department of State's energy division and as a minister counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Korea, as its new senior adviser.

Senior Adviser Henry Haggard will operate out of Washington, D.C., and will collaborate with AMCHAM. He plans to provide strategic advice on key issues in the Korea-U.S. business community and seek various cooperation opportunities.

Henry Haggard worked for the U.S. Department of State for 25 years, playing a key role in the National Security Council (NSC) during both the Trump Administration's first term and the Biden Administration. He served as a minister counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Korea and oversaw energy diplomacy for Asia and the Middle East in the Department of State's Energy Division.

He has worked to strengthen Korea-U.S. relations even after retirement through consulting and collaboration with think tanks. He is currently serving as a senior adviser at WestExec Advisors, a political strategy consulting firm founded by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and is a senior researcher at the Baker Institute of Rice University and the Center for Security and Diplomacy Studies (CSDS) at Free University of Brussels.
