Premium automobile brand Porsche is accelerating its penetration into the electric vehicle market. After introducing the Taycan, an all-electric model, this year, Porsche plans to launch the electric version of the mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV), the Macan Electric, in the domestic market in the first half of next year.
According to the imported car industry on the 19th, Porsche is currently conducting pre-orders for the Macan Electric. The targeted models include the Macan, Macan 4, Macan 4S, and Macan Turbo, totaling four types. Porsche plans to expand its product portfolio by introducing the rear-wheel drive models, Macan and Macan 4S, following the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo.
The Macan Electric is powered by a high-voltage battery with a total capacity of 100 kWh. A rear axle motor with a diameter of 210 mm and an effective length of 200 mm transmits power. The electric motor is equipped with a 480-amp pulse inverter (PWR) using silicon carbide, a high-efficiency semiconductor material, to enhance efficiency.
The Macan 4S is equipped with a powerful 600-amp silicon carbide pulse inverter. The electric motor has a diameter of 230 mm, an effective length of 150 mm, and offers Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) electronic damper control as standard. It features an adaptive air suspension with leveling system and height adjustment, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), and rear axle steering to enhance performance and comfort with an optimized chassis.
When launch control is activated, the Macan produces an overboost output of 360 horsepower (265 kW), while the Macan 4S achieves 516 horsepower (380 kW). The maximum torque for the Macan and Macan 4S is 57.4 kg·m and 83.6 kg·m, respectively. The Macan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, while the Macan 4S does it in 4.1 seconds, with top speeds of 220 km/h and 240 km/h, respectively. The Macan is 110 kilograms lighter than the Macan 4, achieving a driving range of 641 km, while the Macan 4S has a driving range of 606 km.
The Macan and Macan 4S have achieved an optimized drag coefficient of 0.25. Thanks to the 800V architecture of the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), the DC fast charging output is up to 270 kW. Using a fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in about 21 minutes.
Porsche has applied a new color, Slate Gray Neo, to all Macan models. The 20-inch Macan S wheel has also been newly added. A new off-road design package is available as an option for all Macan models.
Porsche has also enhanced convenience features, including a 12.6-inch curved display integrated into the instrument panel, a 10.9-inch passenger display, an augmented reality head-up display, and communication lights.
The selling prices for the Macan, Macan 4, Macan 4S, and Macan Turbo are set at 99.1 million won, 100.59 million won, 114.4 million won, and 138.5 million won, respectively.
