Hanwha Ocean's fixed offshore oil production facility produced its first oil at the Al-Shaheen oil field in Qatar.
Hanwha Ocean announced on the 18th that it produced its first oil at the offshore facility of the Al-Shaheen oil field on the 15th. The company noted that it succeeded in oil production two weeks ahead of schedule.
In 2021, Hanwha Ocean was awarded the contract for a fixed offshore oil production facility from Qatar's North Oil Company (NOC) and completed the construction process at the Geoje shipyard in July this year. Afterward, it set sail to the Al-Shaheen oil field, the largest offshore oil field area in the world, arriving locally about 20 days later. Following that, over three and a half months, it completed various piping and electrical connections with the upper structures, lower structures, and surrounding consolidation structures, and successfully finished the internal equipment and system commissioning.
The first oil production signifies that full-scale commercial production has become possible. Hanwha Ocean said, “The success of early oil production has once again proven our technology and competitiveness as a high-value, high-tech offshore plant manufacturing company.”
Qatar is expected to place additional orders for fixed offshore oil and gas production facilities in the future. This operation is anticipated to have a positive impact on business activities in the Middle East.
